Todays work box

What a lovely basket of colour, a few Valentine items I've been working on and my sweet new 'little homes'.
Have had a nice day with friends and mum and the children at the church hall, it was our turn to serve coffee, tea and cakes - lots of chat and laughs as usual and some delicious cake...I made a Porter cake and my Lemoncello cake .....also managed to fit in a dog walk, shopping, breadmaking and preparing a pasta dish for tea and a little crafting - quite a busy day for a Saturday....time for snuggling down in pyjamas now though as it is very cold here tonight!

Valentine Craft - Put a little ART in your heART

A fun idea for arty types of all ages, have tried this before with my children, lots of fun to be had with sorting colours and experimenting, lovely gifts for little ones also!

Valentine Craft - Paper heart garland

I love this sweet heart idea, perfect project for a rainy afternoon, the garland would look lovely strung across the kitchen, also good for girly birthdays - we have one of those coming up in my house soon!

2012 - Make,create,re-use, recycle !

So far a very good start with my New Year vow to 'make, create re-use, recycle' as much as I possibly can.
As a family we are being extra vigilant with sorting and collecting our re-cyclable rubbish and trying to find new ideas for reusing items rather than just piling them into the re-cycling bins...all good fun !
Cereal boxes - especially the larger sizes are great for keeping for the childrens craft projects ; making dolls houses, castles, treasure boxes, crowns etc.. and I find this card especially useful for templates for patterns and shapes in my craft work also - nice and smooth but thin enough to cut easily etc.. I have also discovered the beauty of an empty evapourated milk tin - thoroughly washed and dried they make great little containers, with a very 'retro' outer design and high shine inner, lined with a little greaseproof they make a lovely display filled with homemade sweets and truffles! I tried this at Christmas, wrapped in cellophane and tied with long Christmas ribbons they looked very effective.

Happy New Year!!

So the festivities are over, almost time to take the decorations down until next year....why does time move so quickly ?
Had a very cosy family Christmas and peaceful New Year, children all happy and well, could not ask for more really, except maybe a new tail for the dog...
So, it is 2012, this year I have decided to make, create, reuse and recycle as much as possible and to avoid buying new whenever I can....I've already begun a new knitting project, a lovely cable cardigan for myself, pictures to follow...hopefully it is going to be a very creative year!!
I should say that my inspiration for this has been my daughter and her 2012 Retro Year plans, as always, very inspiring and supportive !
