Beautiful Books
Three of my favourite books, full of gorgeous illustrations, beautiful recipes and packed with inspiration...I'd be lost without them!

Monday
Stinker of a cold, stayed at home all weekend, hoping that I am going to start feeling better today....I'm not so far, but I live in hope.
Had quite a lot of help from the kiddiwinks over the last few days, especially the youngest two. On Friday eve JP made up a menu and Martha waited-on...I felt so ill that I forgot to get neurotic about him using electrical appliances...sometimes they are so lovely - I try to treasure those moments and forget all about the scrapping and screaming they do.
Have just obtained a new knitting book by Sirdar: 'Farmyard girls and tractor boys', the girls are quite excited as some of the patterns go up to age 13 -I may have already mentioned this, if so please disregard!

Green Squares
Decided to sort my squares - still have a lot to do before there are enough for a blanket the size of an 8 year old.....get there eventually.
Also have quite a lot of reject squares that will do for a dolly blanket or another small project...I draw the line at knitting for the dog, he'd probably just eat it anyway.
Recently knitted some gorgeous washcloths for daughter no.1, using pure cotton yarn in DK, very effective in seed stitch and moss stitch, must sort some pics.

Gorgeous cake
Made a delicious cake this morning, just had a piece for lunch and thought I'd share the recipe:
Coconut Cake
6oz butter or marg
6oz caster sugar
2 large eggs
6oz S R Flour
2oz dessicated coconut
Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs, fold in flour and coconut, spoon into a lined 2lb loaf tin and bake for 1hour (aprox) - 180 degrees or 160 degrees for a fan oven.
It will be a lovely golden colour - test with a skewer to make sure centre is cooked.
Just kind of made up the recipe but it really reminds me of a cake my Gran used to make when I was a little girl, golden and crunchy on the outside and moist inside, perfect with an afternoon cup of coffee (or in my case anytime of the day).

Overcast
Haven't had much time of late, so haven't updated on here for ages. We've had 2 weeks of lovely spring weather (not today) and have been down on the allotment digging and preparing etc..It feels like Spring is here at last and I've been making the most of it while I can...must take some pics - if I can remember!
Speaking of remembering, I am getting much worse...I may well be repeating myself repeatedly!
Thanks to Fairy Pants for my cute picture, it is very sweet. Right I'm off to fnish the pea soup now....
